Aga Foodservice Equipment's accomplishments will be recognized at an awards ceremony in Washington, D.C. on March 21, 2007. Aga Foodservice Equipment -- a first-time ENERGY STAR partner and parent company of Victory Refrigeration, which was the first foodservice equipment manufacturer ever to be named a Partner of the Year in 2006 -- will be honored for its leadership in manufacturing products that earn the ENERGY STAR, the government-backed symbol of energy efficiency. AFE earned its ENERGY STAR award for the energy and water savings its Victory, Eloma combi ovens, Stellar steamers and Infinity fryers generate daily for end-users in professional kitchens across the U.S. Last year alone, with the help of ENERGY STAR, Americans saved $14 billion on their utility bills and enough peak energy to power 70 power plants. Through those savings, U.S. citizens eliminated greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to those of more than 23 million vehicles. "Manufacturing products that earn ENERGY STAR certification is good for our customers and for the environment," said Mark Whalen, president of Aga Foodservice Equipment and Victory Refrigeration. "It's also proved to be successful in the marketplace, as we sold record numbers of ENERGY STAR qualified products last year. Our commitment is to continue to create the technologically superior products our customers expect, while helping to reduce natural resource consumption and carbon emissions. That's also good business and good environmental stewardship." Iain Whyte, president of AFE's parent company, Aga Foodservice Group, noted, "All of our companies are dedicated to producing chilling or cooking equipment whose models are category leaders in resource preservation and efficient functionality. We are honored that the EPA and DOE have recognized our Aga Foodservice Equipment division for the energy savings and resource-consumption reductions its products offer our customers and society as a whole. We also look forward to the timely expansion of the ENERGY STAR program to include additional categories of kitchen equipment, so that the benefits of energy conservation can be more widely applied in the foodservice industry." Partner of the Year awards are given annually to U.S. manufacturers and retailers that successfully deliver and promote ENERGY STAR-qualified products, saving consumers money and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Award winners are selected from thousands of businesses that participate in the ENERGY STAR program each year. "Manufacturing partners like Aga Foodservice Equipment are vital to improving energy efficiency across the country," said Kathleen Hogan, director of EPA's Climate Protection Partnerships Division. "Companies such as AFE have made outstanding efforts to give end-users the option of choosing energy-efficient products that save money while educating them about the benefits for the environment."
