Cherry Hill, NJ, February 2008 -- Stellar Steam, an AFE company, has won a prestigious 2008 Kitchen Innovations award from the National Restaurant Association for its Polaris catering steamer. The honor gives Stellar the privilege of exhibiting and demonstrating the Polaris steamer in the Kitchen Innovations Pavilion at the upcoming NRA Show, set for May 17 to May 20 in Chicago. Established in 2005, the NRA's Kitchen Innovations awards program is designed to recognize those foodservice equipment products deemed by a panel of industry experts to be "among the world's newest and most innovative." Without question, the Polaris fits that description. Introduced late last year, it is the industry's first fully portable, completely connectionless boilerless steamer. The Polaris' water reservoir is heated by a 30-lb. propane tank that allows 22 consecutive hours of on-site cooking or reheating. The propane tank and the steamer are integrated on a compact mobile platform equipped with heavy-duty casters. This allows Polaris steamers to be moved to and operated in environments that were previously inaccessible, from catering halls to outdoor venues. Like all Stellar products, the interior of the Polaris cooking chamber is made of cast-aluminum, which acts as a heat sink that reduces recovery times and energy consumption. According to Mitch Cohen, vice president of cooking system sales for Stellar, as well as AFE companies Infinity Fryers and Eloma, the Polaris is an ideal model for caterers, hotel foodservice directors and any other operators who produce or serve food away from traditional foodservice facilities. "The Polaris is the only steamer available that's portable, giving operators the ability to steam products properly indoors or outside. Before, remote site steaming could only be done by boiling water on a grill. At Stellar, we recognized the need for a mobile boilerless steamer that could produce healthful products wherever there was a dining opportunity," Cohen stated. "We're pleased with the award. We're happy to receive this validation and when attendees come to the NRA Show, they'll have the chance to see a Polaris unit working live." |
