Eloma, Stellar Showcase Newest Units In New York

This year's International Hotel/Motel & Restaurant Show, held in New York City from November 10th through November 13th afforded Aga Foodservice Equipment brands Eloma and Stellar Steam an opportunity to put new models prominently on display to a surprisingly wide cross-section of potential customers.

According to Mitch Cohen, vice president of cooking system sales for Eloma, Stellar Steam and Infinity Fryers, traffic at the AFE booth during the show was solid, in terms of both volume and quality of booth visitors.

"I usually think of the NY Show as being a little bit of a regional event, but that wasn't so much the case this time," he remarked. "A lot of visitors to our booth were from other parts of the country, which was very good to see."

Many of the visitors to the AFE booth were, once again, individuals who have direct roles in equipment purchasing decisions. At the recent NAFEM Show, Eloma and Stellar personnel spoke mostly with individuals from foodservice design consultancies, dealers and chain operators. In New York, however, booth visitors included many more chefs and independent operators - professionals who actually cook with the equipment on display in the AFE booth, Cohen pointed out.

Among show attendees with chef-driven operations or with responsibility for large-volume hotel and hospital foodservice programs, Eloma's premium Genius T line received a significant amount of attention, according to Cohen, due to these combis' programmable control panel. Personnel from school foodservices and smaller operations that prefer a simpler control interface leaned toward Eloma's new Multimax B line of knob-controlled combi ovens.

The recent NY Show also provided AFE with a chance to showcase its new mobile, boilerless Polaris catering steamer, which was rolled out earlier this fall. This fully connectionless steamer is fired by a propane tank and sits on a stand equipped with casters, making it fully portable.

"Stellar got some attention at the show and the Polaris, in particular, drew significant interest," Cohen commented. "A lot of people told us it was a very clever product."
