AFE Named ENERGY STAR Manufacturing Partner of the Year
|
On March 21st, Aga Foodservice Equipment was recognized as a 2007 ENERGY STAR® Manufacturing Partner of the Year at an awards banquet in Washington, D.C. The ceremony marked AFE as a two-time winner of the award (its Victory Refrigeration company earned the honor in 2006) and underscored the fact that it is still the only foodservice equipment manufacturer ever to receive this designation.
One reason that AFE was selected for distinction by ENERGY STAR is the resource-saving performance of products across company lines. All Victory equipment in categories that ENERGY STAR certifies, for example, have earned the EPA-regulated qualification, and all Infinity and Stellar Steam products have received the ENERGY STAR mark, as well. ENERGY STAR's designation marks fryers as being up to 25% more efficient than standard models and steamers as up to 60% more efficient. The qualification also signifies that ENERGY STAR refrigeration uses as much as 45% less power than standard units.

Victory Leads
The Way For AFE To
Take Second Partner
Of The Year Award
Along with its sister AGA Foodservice Equipment companies, Victory Refrigeration was honored for its contributions to reducing energy consumption and promoting environmental responsibility at the ENERGY STAR® awards banquet held at the Omni Shoreham in Washington, DC, on March 21st. Unlike the other AFE companies, though, this is not the first time Victory has earned ENERGY STAR recognition.
Victory, in fact, earned an ENERGY STAR Manufacturing Partner of the Year award in 2006, making AFE the first and only foodservice equipment company to receive such recognition in the 18-year history of the ENERGY STAR program.

Rising Gas Costs
Driving Demand
For Infinity Fryers
As utility costs continue to rise, the case for purchasing energy-efficient equipment grows stronger. That is the message the market is telling Mitch Cohen, vice president of cooking system sales for Infinity Fryers, Stellar Steam and Eloma combi ovens.
"Gas prices are $1.50 a therm in many areas and going up. Electricity prices are rising and so are water and water-treatment costs. I think everyone from the 10,000-unit chain to the mom-and-pop restaurant have to and are looking at energy and utility costs more closely," Cohen explained.

Stellar, Eloma Provide
One-Two Punch
In Utility Savings
As a key member of ENERGY STAR® Manufacturing Partner of the Year company Aga Foodservice Equipment, Stellar Steam achieves its energy efficiency primarily through one innovative and highly effective piece of engineering.
Stellar boilerless steamers utilize a patented heat-exchange system that exposes incoming water to outgoing hot condensate. This exposure increases the temperature of the incoming water, allowing it to be turned into steam with less energy. Since conventional steamers use almost all of the energy they consume to bring water to 212° F., the Stellar design drastically reduces energy consumption and can save operators approximately $1,000 in energy costs per year per steamer, according to Mitch Cohen, vice president of cooking system sales for Stellar Steam, Eloma combi ovens and Infinity Fryers.
